Happy Women's Day

Can you believe it's my second Women's Day celebration in Ufa? It feels like just yesterday that I celebrated with my class and A and I went to the abandoned observatory. Last year Women's Day was on a Tuesday, so we had Monday and Tuesday off of work. This year we only had today off so I wanted to make the most of it. If you saw my Instagram post yesterday you saw that A bought me flowers. It's so sweet when he does that, but I was going to tell him not to buy me anything because I'd rather he save his money. It's like he can read my mind and decided to buy me flowers the day before. One of my students also got me Dove chocolates which was so stinking cute, and I almost ate the whole box. Oops.

Since I spent most of December and January in hibernation, I've been trying to make the most of my free time. I saw these statues earlier in the week and had intentions of going out on Sunday to take a picture, but that didn't happen. I asked A if he wanted to go with me today to find them because he always tells me I never know what I want to do or I never have ideas of what I want to do. In his defense it's true. I hate making decisions. As we started walking was making my way to the bus stop when he said we should just walk the whole way. It's a long walk from his house to the statues, but when he said, "What else will we do?" I realized it was true. We really had no where else to be. On our walk we stopped at one of the malls to get lunch, which I paid for because I feel bad that he bought me flowers. Then we took another stop at McDonalds to get coffee.

When we finally got to the statues I was so disappointed to see that they were all covered in snow. You best bet I will go back in the spring because there is one in particular that I think is hilarious and that I want to take a photo of. Despite my disappointment in how our adventure ended it was still fun, but my feet hurt and were soaking wet because the snow is finally melting! All worth it though!
En route to the statues we took a slight detour. A said to me, "Do you want to see a real Soviet factory?" Loving everything Soviet I said, "Sure." So we stopped to look at an old factory. There wasn't much to see except for a brick building, but we did find a sign, in the picture below, that says, "Good afternoon, comrades. We wish you success in your work (Добрый день товарищи. Желаем успехов в труде)," which is so hilarious that I had to take a picture. Well, A convinced me to take a picture, but I realized I would regret it if I didn't.
Anyways, I am wishing all the women and comrades a Happy International Women's Day! What did you do today?

  1. Dove chocolates is the best gift. Also I too am very tired of winter. It is so cold here (I know it's colder there but I'm still going to complain)

    1. Haha! Complain away! I usually complain about the heat ;) I'm just tired of having to put on so much clothes and seeing ugly black snow every where haha

  2. С 8 Марта поздравляю, Джазлин!!! (Did I get your name right?) Looks like it was a gorgeous day for walking. That was sweet of A to get you tulips. My guy was out of town, so he got a free pass this year. The holiday was just me calling him and reminding him to congratulate his mother and sister, haha.

I'm so glad you took that picture- it totally cracks me up. ;)

Btw, have you seen this old March 8 poster about rising up against kitchen slavery? I really like it!

    1. Actually, you were close but I pronounce my name with an "s" not a "z" so it's Джасилин, but most of the time my name doesn't get spelled with the first и. Where was he? Traveling for work. So funny that you have to remind him... Anton always remembers.

That picture is great! Thanks for sharing.
