Churches of Ufa V.1

Last summer (as you can tell from the lack of snow) I took these photos with the intention of doing one big post of churches in Ufa. It's really no surprise that I love the Orthodox churches. Even if you aren't a religious person I think you can agree that they are beautiful. I forgot about these photos, and the other day it hit me that they were still on my hard drive waiting to be edited. I decided to post these two because there are a lot of churches in Ufa, and one post will be too long. Plus, I'm really slow at going out to find them so it will take a while for the next ones to come.

St. Sergius Catherdral | Свято-Сергиевский Собор

Бехтерева, 2

I first saw this church a year ago when I was taking the bus somewhere. I don't even know where I was going, but my eye caught something bright green and I knew I wanted to take a picture of it. This shade of green is my favorite color. Fast forward to the summer, and A and I decided to go on a walk. When we were near the Monument of Friendship I knew that the church wasn't far, so, as we continued our walk, I made him stop here. Unfortunately, I had the wrong lens with me, so all my photos are really close. Isn't this the cutest church?

St. Panteleimon Church | Свято-Пантелеимоновский Храм

Архитектурная, 7/1

I have an ever growing list of places I want to visit in Ufa. I think I mentioned several times before that I live for a good scavenger hunt. When I look through Instagram or dive deep into the interwebs I keep a list of interesting places I find. This church was one of them. It is in the north of the city, so I asked my friend Elizabeth if she would be interested in coming. She's always up for my weird adventures, so we headed up there. It was kind of uncomfortable though and people kept giving us weird looks and some guy was talking to us in Russian that neither of us understood. Thinking back maybe he was telling us we needed to have our heads covered? I don't know but we didn't spend too much time there. I took a few photos hoping they would turn out alright and we left. I liked this church though because it reminds me of a mix between Eastern Orthodox and Latin American architecture.
What do you think about these churches?
