Arkansas V.1: Mississippi River

My friend Becky has been one of my best friends since high school. She moved to Arkansas to be with Spencer and it would have been fine if I wasn't in Mentor by myself. For months Spencer, Becky's husband, and I have been trying to figure out when a good time would be for me to come down to visit them. We wanted to keep it a surprise because who doesn't like surprises? We were talking about Thanksgiving, but that didn't work out. Then he suggested that I drive down with them when they return home from Christmas because then I would only need to pay for a one way airplane ticket.

Our plans to leave the Saturday after Christmas were crazy because there was a huge storm coming. We ended up leaving at 3:30 am right when the storm started. The roads were terrible, but luckily Spencer was driving and I didn't have to do anything. I hadn't slept since 8 am Friday morning, so I was hoping I'd get some sleep. The entire trip I had two 20 minute intervals of sleep. I'm a terrible car sleeper

It took us about 6 hours to get to Cincinnati! After we got out of Cincinnati the roads were better. It was still a long drive and it felt like it took us forever to get to Nashville. I had been to Nashville before but I didn't remember the drive being so long. The only pictures I got from the trip were of the Mississippi River. This is mostly because my Cincinnati pictures didn't really turn out and the drive was pretty uneventful. All the snow happened when it was too dark.

I really wanted to take a picture of the Mississippi River because I had never seen it before. I think I saw it once when I was flying to Arizona, but that could have been any river. Every time I think of the river I always thought of Huck Finn when it was mentioned that the river was super dangerous and that it was almost impossible to swim across. Growing up in Cleveland we only have the lake. We don't really have a river the size of the Mississippi. Even the Ohio River isn't that big, so I was curious to see what that book was talking about. I was shocked. It is HUGE!
